Connect 2011 to start in Chennai Dec 20
November 28th, 2011 - 9:17 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Nov 28 (IANS) The 11th edition of Connect 2011, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be held here from Dec 20, an official of the industry lobby said Monday.
“The theme of the event will be ‘Towards Innovation and Emerging Entrepreneurship-Tamil Nadu leads the way,” S. Mahalingam, chairman, Connect 2011 and executive director and chief financial officer, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, told reporters.
He said Connect 2011 was being held in the background of India finding itself at the forefront of the emerging global knowledge economy, and the government wanting the software services sector to grow more than three times to $300 billion by 2020.
Further, Tamil Nadu is emerging as the preferred destination for large software services providers, business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, hardware manufacturers and others.
Mahalingam said Connect 2011 will have conference that would focus on emerging technologies, eco-systme for technology led innovation, human resources and capital, e-governance, physical and digital infrastructure.
According to him, the event would be an ideal platform for industry leaders and policy makers come together and exchange insights and views on accelerating the growth and sustainability of the Indian ICT sector.
