Washington, Mar 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The jobs creation bill, worth 17.6 billion, has finally been passed by the Congress after having faced much problems in both the House and the Senate. The bill was passed at a margin of 68-29 votes, and has been sent up to the White House for the approval of the President. It is expected that President Barack Obama would be signing the bill on Thursday, in a ceremony that would be held at the Rose Garden in the morning. The bill has long been advocated by the administration of President Barack Obama, and after it got passed on Wednesday, he expressed hopes that more of such measures would be taken by the government.
The President stressed that such bills are important because they would be helping the country get back on its feet financially, considering that it is just recovering from the recession, and such bills would be creating more jobs. The new bill is going to exempt employers from having to put their new employees on the 6.2% Social Security payroll, given that the employee has not been jobless for more than two months. Moreover, they would also be getting a credit of $1000 if their employees are retained for a year. Tax beaks would also be provided to certain businesses.
However, despite all the good intentions, the bill is receiving some criticism from skeptics. A section of lawmakers, businessmen and economists in the country feel that it is not going to be as useful as it is being advertised as. Many of them also feel that the jobs creation bill would not actually be as effective in creating as many jobs as is being expected.
