Condom vending machine has ’soft launch’ at Technopark
February 9th, 2011 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Feb 9 (IANS) After a series of articles surfaced in newspapers questioning its need, a condom vending machine finally made it to Kerala’s Technopark campus here Wednesday, but without a formal opening ceremony.”Yes, there were a round of articles in the newspapers here against the opening of this vending machine. We feel this is just a machine and those who need it will make use of it, and so what’s the big deal,” a top Technopark official told IANS.
The machine was installed by city-based HLL Lifecare Ltd, the country’s leading condom manufacturer.
Technopark is home to 200 companies that employs more than 30,000 employees.
HLL officials wanted the inauguration to be a low-key affair and hence there was no function.
According to figures, some 25 percent of employees in the IT campus are married.
