September 9th, 2010 - 8:10 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Over a thousand volunteers and school children will gather at Parliament Street on Sep 11 to support the “Clean Delhi-NCR Drive” campaign to spruce up the national capital ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
The week-long campaign, organised by non-profit Art of Living Foundation and telecom service provider Vodafone Essar, aims to create awareness among people in various parts of the city and sensitize them about civic hygiene, sanitation and waste management.
“Vodafone has adopted cleanliness as a long-term focus to make Delhi a garbage free city. With this in mind, we are reaching out to the citizens to advocate this cause,” said Sanjay Warke, chief operating officer, Vodafone Essar.
Vodafone has also started a special caller tune — Meri Dilli, Meri Yamuna — to support this initiative which can be activated by its customers by sending a message ‘CT 15600002′ to 56789 at a charge of Rs.3 per message.
The monthly rental for this service is RS.30 and Rs.15 for song selection which is refundable and will be credited back to the customers account within 48 hours.
