Chouhan to hold roadshow in China to woo investors
September 11th, 2011 - 5:54 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Sep 11 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would hold a roadshow in Shanghai, China to woo investors during his nine-day tour to the world’s fastest growing economy, officials said.
The tour will begin Sunday evening, as on the invitation of the World Economic Forum, Chouhan will leave for Hong Kong from Delhi. He will participate in programmes to be organised by the World Economic Forum in various Chinese cities till Sep 20.
Trade representatives, politicians, scientists, social entrepreneurs, economics experts and top executives of prominent companies of the world are taking part in the World Economic Forum in China.
“At the World Economic Forum, programmes, changing behaviour of consumers due to economic and technological development in the world, structure of trade and effects on financial market will be assessed.
“Experts from all over the world will put forth their views on economic strategies for the future and discuss various important factors affecting the economic scenario,” said an official going with the chief minister’s team.
Chouhan will lead a 28-member delegation which will also include state industry minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. The high-level delegation is going to China on an important visit to explore fresh possibilities of investment in the state.
On the basis of a strong economic growth rate, experts have assessed that our country will be third after America and China in the global economy.
Madhya Pradesh is essaying an important role as a contributory state in the country’s progress. Besides being the second largest state, social, economic, health and education-related works are being run smoothly for 72.5 million people of the state.
According to state government records, so far, two global investors’ summits have been organised in the state to attract investments for economic and industrial development during which investment to the tune of 162.24 million dollars have been attracted.
The report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy said 925 projects worth $119.24 million are under process in Madhya Pradesh.
The focus sectors of investment include mining, energy, infrastructure, engineering and automobile, agriculture and food processing, information technology and IT services, and tourism.
The state’s delegation will apprise the World Economic Forum members of the economic and industrial scenario of Madhya Pradesh, and possibilities of investment in the state.
Chouhan will take part in various World Economic Forum programmes to he held in Dalian city of China Sep 14-16.
He will discuss possibilities of investment in Madhya Pradesh with world’s prominent investors at Beijing Sep 16. On Sep 19, he will take part in a road show at Shanghai for the investors interested to invest in Madhya Pradesh.
