China to launch CSI Consumer 360 Index
October 20th, 2011 - 2:11 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Oct 20 (IANS) China Securities Index Co Ltd (CSI) Thursday announced the launch on Nov 11 of the CSI Consumer 360 Index, said the China Securities Journal.
The index is meant to track the performance of consumer companies in A shares. Consumer 360 Index constituents are 360 relative stocks of consumer companies with good liquidity.
The A shares are denominated in Chinese currency, the renminbi, and are listed on the Shanghai or Shenzhen stock exchanges.
The base date of the index is Dec 31, 2004, and the base point is 1,000, reported Xinhua.
As of Oct 18, 2011, Consumer 360 Index’s market capitalization totalled 4.02 trillion yuan ($630.13 billion) and the figure of free flow shares reached 1.96 trillion yuan, representing 17.23 percent and 22.41 percent, respectively, of A shares.
Based on the CSI Industry Classification Standard, the Consumer 360 Index covers consumer staples, consumer discretionary, computers and peripherals, telecommunication services, health care and forest products.
