China-Arab Forum seeks closer cooperation

Manama (Bahrain), May 21 (Xinhua) The third ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Forum seeking closer partnership for development opened here Wednesday. Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told the forum that the two sides should focus on cooperation in energy, investment, engineering project contract and human resource development.

As part of the proposed cooperation, Beijing will help train 1,000 management and technology personnel from Arab countries every year over the next three years, Yang said.

“China will join hands with Arab nations to make new contribution to consolidate and develop China-Arab friendship,” he added.

“It is a new starting point of Arab-China cooperation and it is our common goal to set up a new partnership between Arab countries and China to develop closer ties,” Sheikh Muhammad, Bahrain’s deputy prime minister, said.

Foreign ministers and representatives from 22 Arab countries attended the meeting.

Yang is expected to meet Bahrain’s Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa and hold official talks with his Bahraini counterpart Sheikh Khaled Bin Ahmed al-Thani on the sidelines of the two-day conference.
