Children’s Toy Recalls in February 2010 Were Numerous

Mar 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) February of 2010 was not a very good month when it comes to the number of children’s toys being recalled. What is worse than the numbers, (there were over 2000 pull toys alone, that had small wooden parts that could break or come loose and cause a child to choke on them) was the fact that many of last month’s recalls were of favorites of both kids and their parents. Some of those pull toys were as follows: Pull Along Friends Toucan, Alligator, Sharky, all made in Thailand, and manufactured by the Manhattan Group LLC of Minneapolis.
Aside from the thousands of pull toys, February recalls also included Wind Chime Toys which are manufactured in China and sold by Tiny Love Inc. of New York, as well as the Maya Group of Huntington Beach, CA. These toys are dangerous because they have sharp metal rods which can come loose from the rest of the product. You can find more information on these toys at tinylove.com or cpsc.gov.
Discovery Kids Animated Marine Lamp has also been recalled, if it has the model numbers 1627121 or 1328626 as well as the Animated Safari Lamps bearing model numbers 1627124 or 1628626. These lamps can cause a fire hazard due to a defect in their circuitry boards. For more information on these lamps, consumers can call 1-888-232-1535 between 9 and 5 PT Monday through Friday or go to lamprecall.org.
There have been many other toys that posed a hazard to the children playing with them in February of 2010. Lamps that may catch in fire, pull toys causing kids to choke, jewelry with too much lead, makes purchasing toys seem a little scary. For more information , you should check with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
