Charges in 2G case is no admission of guilt: Reliance Telecom
October 22nd, 2011 - 8:12 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) The framing of charges is a priliminary exercise and does not amount to admission of guilt, Reliance Telecom said Saturday after a trial court framed formal charges against the company and three of its executives in the 2G case.
There are 17 accused in the case, including three companies and 14 individuals, led by formed telecom minister A. Raja.
“Reliance Telecom and the three executives are very confident of mounting a successful defence in trial proceedings, against the charges framed,” the company said, referring to Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair.
“The substantive charges framed on Reliance Telecom and the executives remain limited only to the alleged abetment to cheating by others, as part of an alleged conspiracy” the company added.
“The observations made hereinabove are tentative, and do not tantamount to expression of opinion on the merit of the case in any manner,” the company said, quoting the judge.
The company said the three Reliance executives will pursue their bail petitions pending before the Supreme Court, which are listed for hearing Oct 31. The trial in the special court is slated to start Nov 11.
