Chandigarh, Oct 21 (IANS) The city administration is planning to hold “special food festivals” along with the upcoming national crafts fair to attract tourists.
“Different themes-based food festivals have been finalised, which will go along with the upcoming crafts ‘mela’ in hotels and restaurants,” Chandigarh Hotel Association (CHA) president Manmohan Singh said Wednesday.
These include “Lahori food festival”, “Healthy food festival”, “Dum Pukht food festival” and “Ice-cream and dessert fest”, he added.
The Chandigarh administration is organising the crafts mela at Kalagram on the lines of Haryana’s famous Surajkund mela.
The 10-day festival will be held Oct 24-Nov 2 and the administration is expecting around 400,000 visitors.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corp (CITCO) said hotels owned by it would offer special discounts during the mela.
“Special discount of 15 percent will be offered on food at CITCO-run hotels. We will also hold a Punjabi Food Festival at Kalagram during the mela,” said D.K. Tiwari, managing director of CITCO.
