Chandigarh Rock Garden to open in evening too
December 7th, 2010 - 10:30 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Dec 7 (IANS) The Rock Garden here will soon be open to visitors in the evening as well, Chandigarh’s Home-cum-Tourism Secretary Ram Niwas said Tuesday.
At present, visitors are not allowed to enter the garden after 5 p.m.
Created by Chandigarh resident Nek Chand over three decades ago from waste material, the Rock Garden is a leading tourist attraction here.
Nek Chand toiled for years in a forested area of the city in the 1960s and 70s to create the wonder garden from broken plugs, switches, tubelights, bangles, crockery, wash basins, marbles and other discarded items.
