Chandigarh plot for shops goes for over Rs. 12.2 crore
December 17th, 2009 - 11:19 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Dec 17 (IANS) After seeing an encouraging response during the auction of residential plots Wednesday, this union territory again saw a good rise in the prices of commercial land Thursday.
The estate office of the Chandigarh administration Thursday auctioned 12 commercial plots of various sizes, from 25 square yards to 432 square yards, located in different sectors of the city. All the plots fetched an amount that was few million rupees above the reserve price.
“A 431.25 square yard shop-cum-office plot went for Rs.12.21 crore (Rs. 122.1 million) whereas 292 square yard plot made the administration richer by Rs.9.20 crore (Rs. 92 million),” said the Chandigarh government spokesperson here Thursday evening.
“A booth of just 25 square yards size was sold for Rs.59.5 lakh,” he added.
Designed by legendary French architect Le Corbusier in the 1950s, Chandigarh is considered one of the most well-planned cities in the country.
