Kolkata, June 24 (IANS) City-based power utility company CESC Ltd Friday announced that its profit after tax (PAT) for the year 2010-11 increased to Rs.488 crore from Rs.433 crore during the previous year — posting a growth of 12.7 percent.

According to a company release, its net sales for the year 2010-11 grew to Rs.3,940 crore from Rs.3,293 crore in 2009-10, a growth of over 19 percent.

Profit before tax (PBT) for the year under review increased by over 17 percent to reach Rs.614 crore from Rs.522 crore in the previous year.

Generation during the year increased by 12 percent due to commissioning of Budge Budge Unit 3, which enabled the company to meet a 7 percent increase in demand in spite of reduction in import.

Rise in depreciation and interest cost for the year were mainly on account of commissioning of the 250 MW third unit of Budge Budge plant.

The company’s board recommended a dividend of Rs.4 per share for the year - same as last year, the release added.
