Centum to provide learning solutions to Airtel in Africa
December 7th, 2010 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) Centum Learning, a Bharti associate company, Tuesday said it will provide learning solutions to telecom major Bharti Airtel’s recently acquired African operations.
Under the agreement, Centum will cater to business verticals in 16 African countries.
It will create new ways of working by conducting a need diagnostic study, mapping employees’ competencies, developing role based learning plans and creating customised learning content, it said in a statement.
Centum would also play a critical role in restructuring business verticals and organising skills labs and measure impact through certification and audits.
“As we deepen our involvement in Africa, we are committed to playing a significant role in transforming customer experience and bringing enhanced efficiency for Airtel’s African operations in all 16 countries,” Centum’s chief executive officer and executive director Sanjeev Duggal said.
“Airtel is on an accelerated growth path and we are proud to be their long-standing partners in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and now in Africa,” he added.
“Centum Learning will play a critical enabling role in transforming our customer experience. This association will go a long way in impacting our business and organizational growth as Centum Learning brings its knowledge and best practices to us,” said Manoj Kohli, chief executive officer (international business), Bharti Airtel.
The agreement is expected to impact over 40,000 Airtel employees in Africa and its channel partners.
Earlier this year, Bharti acquired the African assets of Kuwait’s Zain under a $10.7-billion deal, making it the world’s fifth largest mobile phone services company.
