Calcutta Stock Exchange to advance trading time from Jan 4
January 1st, 2010 - 9:28 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 1 (IANS) Come Jan 4, the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) will start trading from 9 a.m. instead of the present 9.55 a.m.
The decision comes close on the heels of the two key bourses of the country — Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange — advancing and increasing trading time.
In a notice to trading members of the Exchange, the CSE said the decision was taken in line with a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) circular permitting stock exchanges to set their trading hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“Trading Members of the Exchange are hereby informed that… the Exchange (has) also decided to change the commencement of trading… from 9 a.m. onwards w.e.f. 4th January 2010,” the notice said.
The BSE and the NSE advanced market opening by 55 minutes from the start time of 9.55 a.m. to lure derivatives traders in Hong Kong and Singapore to their platforms.
