December 7th, 2009 - 8:41 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) People from across different sectors will meet at the annual Business for Environment Global Summit (B4E) in Seoul next year to discuss the strategy for advancing a green economy.
The April 21-23 summit will be co-hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), WWF International, UN Global Compact, labour and civil society, as well as the South Korean government.
B4E is the largest gathering of leaders from business, government, non-government organisations and the media, with around 1,000 people expected to attend. Thousands more will be linked by video and web conference.
“Governments have a central role in fostering a green economy by sending the right market signals and by implementing imaginative market mechanism reforms,” said UNEP executive director Achim Steiner in a statement.
“The challenge for business is how to translate this evolving landscape into low carbon, resource efficient goods and services. This is the kind of creativity, innovation and acumen that B4E will be catalysing and showcasing in 2010.”
