Business Baron Dan Duncan Passes Away At 77

2740398binHouston, Mar 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Houston based energy baron Dan Duncan, the billionaire businessman who was liked by all for his gentle and philanthropic attitude, passed away on Monday, at the age of 77. He used to be the richest man of the city. As per the estimate of the Forbes magazine, the wealth of the tycoon is more than $9 billion. He died at his River Oaks residence. The demise was owing to natural causes as it has been reported. A housekeeper found him dead in his master bedroom. However, he was not suffering from any significant illness in recent times. His long time friend and business partner Craig Murray said that he was a gentleman with vision that very few businessman can possess.

Dan Duncan was the owner of the brand Enterprise Products Partners. His rags to riches story still serves as an inspiration for a lot of young entrepreneurs. He started the business venture with just a trailer-truck and $10,000. From there he went on to develop a $26 billion company. He was always open to the idea of donating to social and medical causes and gave $137 million to the Baylor College of Medicine. He also donated to several wildlife groups and museums. This spread his popularity as a philanthropist as well. The CEO and President of Texas Children’s Hospital, Mark Wallace, mourned his demise and described it as a huge loss for the city and its residents.

A few days back, Forbes magazine ranked him as the 74th billionaire of the world. He was particularly sympathetic to the cancer victims as his own father had died of Leukemia and he himself had survived prostate cancer. His wife also died of cancer.
