B.S Meena appointed heavy industries secretary

New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) B.S. Meena was Thursday appointed secretary, department of of heavy industries.
The appointments committee of the cabinet cleared Meena’s name for the post at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, according to a statement issued by the government.
The committee also appointed Jamini Kumar Sharma as member secretary of the Tariff Commission under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).
While Meena is a 1975 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre, Sharma, of the same batch, is of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
Meena is currently special secretary and financial adviser in the steel ministry. He will take over as heavy industries secretary from Satyanarayana Dash who retires on March 31, the statement said.
Similarly, Sharma will take over as member secretary, Tariff Commission, and be attached to the ministry of commerce and industry.
