London, United Kingdom, March 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the three day strike called by British Airways cabin crew came to an end on Monday both the parties claimed their own success. While under the banner of Unite union, the British Airways cabin crew declared that they have been able to make the three days strike successful as many flights were canceled and passengers who boarded the planes were served cold foods. On the other hand the British Airways’ spokesperson had said that they have been able to maintain the flight services more or less evenly during the strike. According to reports, the British Airways had declared that it has suffered a loss of 21 million pounds which is according to them less than what was previously anticipated.
The cabin crew of British Airways had declared three days strike starting from last Saturday after failed talk between the union leaders of the cabin crew and British Airways’ management. This led to disruption in flight schedules along with many flights being canceled. Though the official release of the details of the flight cancellations during the period of three days is awaited, according to the official website of British Airways on Monday at around 4PM, out of the scheduled 691 flights 238 were canceled. These cancellations were done from eleven major airports. The British Airways had said that it has been able to operate 78 percent of the total long-haul flights and around 50 percent short haul-flights.
However, the three-day strike had left the passenger at the suffering end. As flights got canceled at the weekend, holiday plans of thousands of passengers suffered. According to reports the Unite union can call another strike if things are not resolved by the management of British Airways.
