London , Aug 6 (ANI): A couple literally took their love to new heights when they exchanged wedding wows standing on top of the wings of two planes, 1,000 feet above the ground.

Both the bride, Katie Hodgson, 23, and groom Darren McWalters, 24, were strapped to the top wings of two similar aeroplanes that flew alongside.

Rev George Bringham, who flew ahead on the wings of a third aircraft, married the couple, from Lancashire , via an airborne communications system.

However, the ceremony got delayed twice owing to bad weather. It was played through loud speakers throughout RFC Rendcomb Airfield, near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, to the congregation on the ground.

When the couple exchanged their vows in mid-air, the aeroplane fired jets of white smoke. But the newly married duo had to be rushed inside when heavy winds and rain cut the flight short.

“We got engaged in the Brazilian rainforest and I wanted a wedding blessing that would top my proposal. It was unbelievable. Looking down and seeing my family and friends below was just incredible. I”m lost for words, the Telegraph quoted McWalters, a fitness instructor, as saying.

His wife, who got on the wings of the plane wearing a traditional white gown, said that as a young girl she had never imagined she would wed on the wings of a plane.

“As I got older I became more adventurous. I bring the adventurous side out of Darren he used to be scared of heights,” she said.

Rev Bringham, 67, who works around Shipley, near Bradford , said he did not get scared at all by the slightest by the experience.

He said: “I did this before, about eight years ago. It’’s certainly the most unusual wedding I”ve ever done. The only hairy moment was when I thought my goggles were about to come off.”

However, they exchanged their rings inside the reception hall at the airbase, followed by a private dinner and party. (ANI)
