Bridgestone’s Madhya Pradesh tyres factory begins production

Bhopal, June 14 (IANS) The Bridgestone India Private Limited (BSID), a subsidiary of the Bridgestone Corporation Japan, Tuesday announced the start of production of truck and bus radial tyres at its Kheda plant in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district.

The facility, set up at an estimated investment of Rs.170 crore, will achieve a capacity of around 200 tyres per day by December 2011 which will be further enhanced to 400 tyres per day by July 2012.

Additional Chief Secretary Satya Prakash, Bridgestone Corporation Japan (tyre division) vice president Fumihiro Yanaga and senior state government officials were present at the inauguration.

Bridgestone India started its operations in India in 1998 and is currently producing 15,000 tyres per day for passenger cars and multi-utility vehicles (MUV) at its existing facility at Pithampur in the same district.

Bridgestone currently imports the truck and bus radials from Japan.
