Brazilian exports on track to set new record
October 20th, 2011 - 11:44 am ICT by IANSBrasilia, Oct 20 (IANS/EFE) Brazil has exported $202.07 billion worth of goods in 2011, surpassing last year’s record-setting total of $201.92 billion, authorities said Wednesday.
The figure “is an indicator of the way in which the country has managed to face the current economic crisis”, Foreign Trade Secretary Tatiana Lacerda Prazeres said in a statement.
Latin America’s largest economy has increased revenue from exports in a challenging global environment thanks to “the determination and competence” of both officials and the private sector, she said.
“The Brazilian export effort is real,” Prazeres said.
Brazil’s government forecasts total exports of $257 billion in 2011, which would be a gain of 27 percent over last year.
