Boeing awarded $1 billion, 10-year contract with U.S. Air Force
June 10th, 2010 - 11:10 pm ICT by BNO NewsST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (BNO NEWS) — The Boeing Company on Thursday announced that it has been awarded the U.S. Air Force’s Mission Planning Enterprise Contract-II (MPEC-II) to provide software management, development, integration and services for mission planning systems.
The 10-year contract, MPEC-II, has a total value of $1 billion. Its a multiple-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, and as an awardee, Boeing will be eligible to bid on contracts under the MPEC-II umbrella over the life of the program.
The original MPEC program was developed by the Air Force and began in 2004, eliminating stovepipes and duplicated efforts in the acquisition of mission planning systems. The MPEC-II contract provides for the extension and sustainment of mission planning software, services and solutions.
“MPEC-II is a natural follow-on to other work we’re doing for the U.S. Air Force and Navy,” said Mark McGraw, Boeing vice president for Training Systems and Services. “Our strong mission-planning program performance will continue to provide our military customers with the solutions they need, on cost and on schedule.”
Boeing, Defense, Space & Security, which is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a unit of the Boeing Company, and is one of the world’s largest defense, space and security businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities-driven customer solutions, employing 68,000 people worldwide and being worth $34 billion. Its also the world’s largest and most versatile manufacturer of military aircraft.
