Detroit, Mar 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) General Motors Co. vice chairman Bob Lutz is set to retire from his office on the 1st of May. Bob Lutz, who had been gracing General Motors operations all the while, has revealed his decision of retirement to the media on Wednesday. Bob Lutz (78) declared that he feels his job is done at General Motors and hence there isn’t any valid reason which can hold him back.
Bob Lutz, who also happens to be an ex-U.S. Marine aviator recalled his days when he had crashed his personal helicopter at the Michigan airport only to rise up to his prestigious position in the later phase. The man claims his Chevrolet Volt, gas-electric sedan, is his greatest achievement till date. Bob Lutz proclaims himself to be a happy man with General Motors reeling on success with vehicle models like Buick La Crosse, Cadillac SRX, GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Camaro.
Bob Lutz started off at General Motors way back in 1963 where he held a position in the sales. In due course of time he associated himself with Ford, BMW & Chrysler Corp. It was in General Motors where Bob Lutz gave an impetus for successful models like Chevrolet Malibu and Cadillac CTS which are regarded to be top sellers out of General Motors classic array of products to offer. It was in last December when Lutz became the vice chairman of General Motors. Bob Lutz had first declared in February 2009 that he would eventually retire by the end of the same year. Bob Lutz was in a way persuaded by ex-ceo Fritz Henderson to pull back, to which Bob Lutz had responded positively.
