Feb 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS ) Bloom Box Energy held a recent press event to draw off the curtains of the Bloom box fuel cell technology. It’s quite evident that there isn’t nothing new or inspiring about the fuel cell technology but Bloom Box Energy’s patented technology shall facilitate a real time and effective utilization of the fuel cells.
The patented process tiles are derived and made up of “yttria stabilized zirconium” material and created with basic “beach sand.” The tiles are further stacked into much smaller blocks. The chief idea is to have stacked blocks inside an unit the size of that a refrigerator. The energy efficient method that produces electricity with Bloom blocks is all due to a chemical reaction. Air is supplied into the fuel cells from one end and fuel from the other. The two components then mixes up in the cell thus generating electricity without burning or combustion. The technology of bloom box energy is being employed by large corporations like that of eBay. The boxes that the company purchase lies somewhere between $700,000 and $800,000. Figures say that five such boxes from E -bay generates more power as compared to company’s alternative energy efficient solar power solution comprising of 3,000 panels.
However, the stiff challenge which technology is subjected to is its reliability and temperature volatility. Tobin Fisher, the co-founder of mobile fuel cell company, Ardica Technologies, claims the thermal stress being the source for all explanations. He also makes it a point to add that Bloom Box Energy shall have to conduct more long term stress-testing experiments to determine the reliability of boxes gaining efficiency over time.
