New Delhi, Oct 12 (IANS) Canadian handset maker Research in Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry services continued to remain disrupted across the country for the third consecutive day Wednesday.

“The trans-national outage at RIM continues and some BlackBerry services remain affected,” Reliance Communications said in a statement sent to its BlackBerry users.

BlackBerry services had collapsed in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Middle East Monday evening.

RIM claimed early Tuesday that it had fixed the problem and services have been restored.

However, within a few hours the services collapsed again, causing hardships to the users, many of whom rely on it for their business communication.

Another telecom operator, Vodafone said that the Canadian firm had identified the problem and is set to solve it.

“RIM had identified the issue and is clearing the backlog of data and is working to restore services as quickly as possible,” it said in a statement.

The customers were disappointed as their daily activities were severely affected by the glitch.

“I have been literally left paralysed by the breakdown. I haven’t been able to access my emails and chat with my friends properly. It’s frustrating because they want us to shell out big bucks for their services when they do not even have effective back-ups in place,” said Pallavi Singh, a Delhi University student.

Over one million people use BlackBerry phones in India.
