Bill Gates Holds On To Top Spot On Forbes 400

Sep 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a list that only a select few can ever dream of seeing their names on, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ensured that he is here to stay at the top for a long time to come. With the announcement of the Forbes 400 on Wednesday, people all over can get a glimpse of the outrageous wealth that some people in America make. With numbers that are too hard to write down in expanded form, the top 5 includes the legendary investor Warren Buffet at $45 billion and 55 year old Walmart heir Christy Walton at a whopping $24 billion. The other Waltons too are not far behind with Jim Walton at #7 with $20.1 billion, Alice Walton following him on the list with $20 billion and S Robson Walton close on the heels at $19.7 billion.
Among some of the surprises in the list this year is the young Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg with a fortune of $6.9 billion, tied at the 35th spot. The fairy tale however continues for Bill Gates who leads the list for the 17th straight year. The official website of Forbes claims that America’s richest man has written cheques worth $28 billion till date and most of it is for his charitable organization Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
A number of people from the media have also made it to the Forbes 400. Legendary talk show host Oprah Winfrey booked the 130th spot with $2.7 in fortune and Hollywood director Steven Spielberg is 20 ranks ahead of her at #110 with $3 billion. 90 year old Anne Cox Chambers, who inherited the Cox Enterprises leads the list of the richest in media with a whopping fortune of $12.5billion.
