BHEL quarterly net profit rises 13 percent

Mumbai, July 26 (IANS) State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) Thursday posted a 13 percent increase in net profit at Rs.921 crore for the quarter ended June 30 against Rs.815.5 crore during the like period of the previous financial year.

The total income stood at Rs.8,805.3 crore for the quarter under review against Rs.7,560.5 crore during the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The company has an order book position of Rs.1,33,000 crore at the end of the first quarter of 2012-13, which includes Rs.950 crore contract for supplying equipment for 1,020 MW hydel project in Bhutan, bagged by BHEL last month.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the company closed 1.80 percent lower at Rs.212.35.
