BGR Energy bags Rs.2,168 crore order
October 25th, 2010 - 5:15 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Oct 25 (IANS) Engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) contractor BGR Energy Systems Limited Monday said it has bagged a Rs.2,168 crore (around $485 million) order for balance of plant (power plant equipments other than boiler, turbine and generator) from Thermal Powertech Corporation Limited.
Thermal Powertech, based in Hyderabad, is setting up a 2×660 MW super-critical power plant at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
According to BGR Energy, the scope of the order includes design, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, transportation, equipment erection, civil and structural works, commissioning and guarantee test.
The power project is funded by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) as the lead lender with a consortium of banks. The financial closure of the project has been achieved.
BGR Energy has consolidated its position as an EPC contractor by signing joint ventures with Hitachi of Japan for manufacture of super-critical boiler and turbine of 660 MW to 1,000 MW.
