November 17th, 2009 - 12:31 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Tell a Friend -

Bernard Madoff Washington DC, Nov 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Two computer programmers Jerome O’Hara and George Perez have been arrested by the FBI for allegedly suspicious dealings for Wall Street conman Bernard Madoff.

They worked for Madoff from the time period 1990 to 1991, and they were arrested from their homes on Friday, according to the police. They have been charged with conspiracy and falsifying accounts, the federal prosecutor’s office in New York said.

The two culprits forty-six year old Jerome O’Hara, and the forty-three year old George Perez, are being accused of complying with the core players in a defrauding scheme that conned thousands of investors, fooled the federal regulators too and due to which Bernard Madoff got billions of dollars. “Without the help of O’Hara and Perez, the Madoff fraud would not have been possible,” George S. Canellos, director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s New York Regional Office, said in a statement.

These two are charged with conspiracy, falsifying books and records of a broker-dealer, and falsifying books and records of an investment banker. These lies and untruths fooled about at least 5 probes of the SEC between the time period of 2004-2008. Both men were released on $1-million bond after a brief hearing on Friday.
