Kolkata, May 24 (IANS) Come July, all teachers in government and government-aided schools of West Bengal will get their salary on the first day of the month — instead of the tenth, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced Tuesday.
Part-time and para-teachers will also get the benefit, she said.
“We have decided that the teachers working under the jurisdiction of the state government will get their salaries on the first day of every month. The primary teachers, higher secondary teachers, para teachers will also get their salaries on the first day of every month from July,” Banerjee told media persons at the state secretariat.
“We have taken this decision in order to give relief to the teachers who face problems due to late payment of salaries,” she said, adding there may be some problems in implementing this policy from June when the salary for May will be paid.
“But from July (when teachers get their salaries for June), every teacher will get their salaries on the first day of the month,” said Banerjee.
