Washington, April 21 (ANI): Ace footballer David Beckham’s L. A. Galaxy teammates have leapt to his defence amid accusations that he is letting his ‘movie star’ lifestyle harm his game.
Recent reports said that soccer fans considered Beckhams partying with celebrities like Eva Longoria Parker and Tom Cruise to be responsible for the failure of L. A. Galaxy in winning any major trophies.
“He’s spending more time on red carpets than he is on green grass - and what kind of example is he setting younger players with the team struggling the way it is?” Contactmusic quoted a fan named Rick Cordillo as saying.
However, a spokesman for the California-based club has scotched claims that Beckhams lifestyle is leaving a negative impact on other players.
“He’s the first one on the training pitch and the last one off. What he does in his private life in no way reflects on the team, he said.
He’s a major celebrity and he’s bound to attract attention wherever he goes,” he added. (ANI)
