BBMB records all-time high power generation
October 1st, 2010 - 5:51 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Oct 1 (IANS) Hydro-electric projects of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) generated a record 1575.5 million units (MU) in September, a board official said here Friday.
“The BBMB has recorded an all-time high total generation of 1575.5 MU (million units) in September. The previous highest generation was 1473.4 MU in September, 1994,” BBMB Joint Director V.P. Sharma said.
The two major dams under the BBMB –Bhakra Dam and Pong Dam — have recorded one of the highest water levels in recent years due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh resulting in heavy inflow of water into the reservoirs.
Sharma said that 100 percent capacity of Pandoh-Baggi tunnel and Sundernagar Hydel Channel was also utilised last month.
