July 7th, 2011 - 12:09 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 6 (IANS) The Delhi government Wednesday decided to extend the elevated Barapulla road to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
State Public Works Minister Rajkumar Chauhan said: “The first phase of the Barapulla project was constructed for facilitating the players and the Games staff from CWG (Commonwealth Games) Village to the Nehru Stadium. Now in the second phase, the project will be extended to AIIMS which will ease the traffic on Ring road and the other roads around.”
The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs.425 crore and the construction work will begin once the state cabinet clears the expenditure estimate.
The minister stated that the government is also planning to further extend the project to Mayur Vihar in east Delhi in its third phase.
