Bank Of America Looking For New Office Space

bank-of-americaAug 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The largest bank of USA, Bank Of America is looking for around 1 million square feet for its new office in New York City. It has been reported that it may consider the place at World Trade Center. The bank has started approaching the landlords in Manhattan region for this purpose. The port authority of New Jersey and New York, the owner of upcoming World Trade Center has been approached by the bank. However, the talks are in preliminary level and the bank has not made any declaration on it as such.

Bank of America’s proposal for place means that the slack demand of space in the place is going to improve. The business entities’ have a perception that the place where the twin towers stood may be targeted by terrorist groups again in the future. The bank based in Charlotte regularly reviews space requirements. The bank may also think of acquiring more space at the World Financial Center complex which it got a year ago after acquiring Merrill Lynch. It has an area of 4.6 million square feet. The bank also owns a Bryant Park building with area covering over 2 million square feet. The bank will ensure that the latest facilities and amenities are available in the new office space, a source said.

The Merrill lease is set to expire in 2013. That year the bank plans to move into the new place. The bank hired Jones Lang LaSalle Inc and Cushman & Wakefield Inc. to review its space requirements in New York. The result will be declared as soon as it finalizes one spot.
