Bajaj motorcycle sales grow 52 percent in October
November 2nd, 2009 - 3:59 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Mumbai, Nov 2 (IANS) Leading two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto Monday said its motorcycle sales grew 52 percent in October to 249,681 units, as against the 163,850 units it sold in the corresponding month last year.
“Bajaj motorcycle sales grew 52 percent in October 2009 despite several supply constraints,” said Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj in a statement.
“We are confident of maintaining this growth rate for the rest of FY10,” he added.
In a regulatory filing Monday, the company said its three-wheeler sales stood at 30,481 units in the month under review, a 16 percent growth over the 26,363 vehicles sold in October 2008.
Its exports of both two-wheelers and three-wheelers registered a 12 percent year-on-year growth to to 84,012 units - the highest ever. The figure stood at 75,092 units in October last year.
Bajaj Auto also said its premium motorcycle models constituted 60 percent of its sales last month, with 55,413 units of the Pulsar model being sold, and 95,139 units of the Discover model.
