Bajaj Allianz plans to increase health insurance business

Kolkata, Feb 10 (IANS) Bajaj Allianz General Insurance plans to increase its health cover portfolio to 20 percent from the present 12 percent of the total business in the next two years, a senior official said here Wednesday.
“We are looking at 20 percent health business of the total portfolio in the next two years,” said Tapan Singhel, chief marketing officer of the company.

He was here to launch the company’s health insurance plan “Extra Care”.

The company now has 15 lakh customers in the health insurance business with 243 branches and around 10,000 agents.

Talking about the general insurance portfolio, he said the company has made a profit of Rs.130 crore for the first nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal (2009-10). It made a profit of Rs.75 crore during the like period last fiscal.

The company has a total premium target of Rs.2,450 crore for 2009-10.
