June 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The users of the Apple iPhone in the USA may grudge as carrier AT&T has announced that it will put an end to its unlimited data plan for the users.
The unlimited data plan will be scrapped by this week itself. Hence, the customers will have to put up with its tethering offered at $20 additional a month. The existing unlimited data plan requires the iPhone users to shell out $30a month and they can download as many apps and songs they like from the internet in turn.
The new plans pot a capping amount on the data a user can use per month after which additional fees will be charged. This may not go down well with the heavy data users.
The move will be applicable for other Smartphone owners who use the network of the company. AT&T Mobility CEO, Ralph de la Vega is of the opinion that offering various data plans will prove to be beneficial for the users as people have various requirements.
Free Press, an advocacy group however has slammed the new policy and it thinks the new data limit will actually penalize the users and force them to pay more for the service.
As per the new data plan of the company a person will have to churn out $15 for 200 Mb of data per month. For every 200 MB more he will have to pay $15. Data Plan Pro is for heavy users and it costs $25 a month offering 2GB.
The market analysts have said this had to happen sometimes and the carrier should not be blamed.
