Japanese shares closed 0.15 percent higher as Wall Street rallied on lower oil prices, but dealers said reports of an Iranian missile test could weigh on market sentiment. The Tokyo Stock Exchange’s benchmark Nikkei-225 index firmed 19.03 points to end at 13,052.13.
Hong Kong share prices closed 2.8 percent. Hang Seng Index finished 585.00 points high. Australian share prices closed 1.6 percent higher. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index closed up 79 points at 5,011.9.
Chinese share prices closed 3.75 percent higher. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed up 105.60 points at 2,920.55 on turnover of 105.8 billion yuan ($15.4 billion).
South Korea’s shares closed 0.92 percent low. Singapore share prices closed 1.07 percent higher. Volume totalled 1.14 billion shares worth 1.31 billion Singapore dollars (963 million US). Malaysian share prices closed up 1.7 percent. Thai shares closed 0.19 percent. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index lost 1.37 points to close at 721.13 points, while the blue-chip SET-50 fell 1.51 points to close at 511.38. Indonesian shares closed 0.3 percent higher. Philippine shares closed 1.26 percent higher.New Zealand shares closed up 0.53 percent.
