Anand Sharma to visit US, Canada next week

Barack Obama New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) Ahead of the upcoming India visit of US President Barack Obama, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma will visit Chicago and Washington from Sep 20-23 for a series of meetings to push bilateral economic ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Sharma is scheduled to meet with US Trade Representative Ron Kirk and interact with a host of top business heads in the US, officials here said.

Commerce minister is likely to strongly raise the visa fee hike issue during his meeting with the US officials. India has also voiced concerns over Ohio’s decision to forbid outsourcing of IT services by government departments.

At the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on “Seizing the US-India Trade Opportunities” and also a luncheon session with the select chief executives.

On his way back, via Ottawa, Sharma is scheduled to speak at the Canada India Centre of Excellence at the Carleton University Sep 25.
