Amritsar airport to be renamed as Guru Ram Dass Jee airport

New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS) The Union Cabinet Thursday approved the renaming of the Rajasansi International Airport in Amritsar as Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.
Guru Ram Dass, the fourth of the ten Gurus of Sikhism, was the founder of the city of Amritsar.
The decision to change the name of the airport was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said an official release.
The airport is operated and managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It can handle aircraft such as Boeing 767 and 747 in all weather conditions.
