American Eagle Outfitters releases financial figures

The company announced that its total sales for the period dropped by 9 percent when it is compared to the same period last year. On a year-to-year sales comparison basis, the company sold $160 million worth of cloth on the first four weeks ended 30th of January 2010 as compared to $145 million after the period ended 29th of January 2011.
In the financial details that were released on the 3rd of February 2011, it was realized that the total sales of the quarter ended 29th January 2011 moved up to $2.97 billion from $2.94 billion the same period a year ago representing a percentage increase. Comparable store sales did fairly well this year though it declined. The company’s comparable store sales dropped by 4 percent last year. At the same period this year, the comparison store sales declined by just 1 percent.
The clothing and accessories retailer has been selling high-quality clothing and accessories through most of is subsidiaries. The company’s competitive prices for their products have given them a competitive advantage over their rivals.
