Airport Metro offers discount this weekend
December 8th, 2011 - 6:42 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) To facilitate travellers taking part in the capital’s centenary celebrations, the Airport Metro Express Line (AMEL) is offering a 50 percent discount in fares this weekend, an official said.
The offer is available on single journey tokens, not on smart cards, and valid only this Saturday and Sunday. The offer is mainly to facilitate people who are planning to visit the Delhi food festival, being held near the Shivaji Stadium Metro station.
The Reliance Infrastructure-led consortium, which runs the high-speed 20-km Metro line, is expecting a huge rush.
“The Shivaji Stadium station is located opposite the Emporium Hub, where the food festival is taking place. We hope the discounted fare would encourage more people to take the AMEL by providing a time and cost saving alternative to traffic jams on city roads,” said a spokesperson of the rail network.
The normal minimum fare on the New Delhi Railway Station-Dwarka Sector 21 express line is Rs.20 and the maximum Rs.100.
The offer will be available at all six stations — New Delhi Railway Station, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aero City, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and Dwarka Sec-21.
