Air India to operate two-special flights to Srinagar

January 16th, 2012 - 10:10 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )

New Delhi, Jan 16 (IANS) National carrier Air India Monday said it will operate two extra flights from the national capital to Srinagar following flights being cancelled to the Jammu and Kashmir summer capital due to continuous snow fall.

“To clear the backlog of stranded passengers to and from Delhi to Srinagar due to prevailing bad weather at Srinagar, Air India has decided to operate two special flights from Delhi to Srinagar,” an Air India official told IANS.

Bad weather Monday resulted in cancellation of the flag carrier’s two-scheduled operations to Srinagar. The airline operates two-scheduled flights from the national capital to Srinagar daily.

Life across Kashmir was hit for the second consecutive day Monday as moderate to heavy snowfall continued, cutting off the valley from the rest of the country.

No civilian flights could operate from Srinagar International airport Sunday because of bad weather.
