Air Arabia to fly to New Delhi from March 31March 4th, 2008 - 7:17 pm ICT by admin
Dubai, March 4 (IANS) Middle East’s low-cost airline Air Arabia will start flying to New Delhi from March 31. “Following the introduction of service to Kozhikode (in Kerala) last month, we are delighted to further expand our destination network to India,” the airline’s head of commercial department A.K. Nizar said here Tuesday.
The airline will initially operate four flights a week between the Indian capital and its hub in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It will operate daily flights from May.
“New Delhi is one of the most vital financial centres in the wider south Asia region,” Nizar said.
“By introducing timely, efficient and cost-effective travel options for those visiting this historic city, Air Arabia continues to demonstrate its unmatched commitment to India, especially on behalf of the significant Indian expatriate population in the UAE and wider Gulf region.”
There are around 1.4 million expatriate Indians in the UAE and 5.5 million overall across the Gulf.
New Delhi will be the 11th destination in India Air Arabia will be flying to. The other cities it flies to include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvananthapuram.
“Like the UAE, India is in the midst of a period of unprecedented economic expansion, and Air Arabia is proud to facilitate the strengthening of trade and financial ties between the two countries,” Nizar said.
“With a $1 trillion national economy and annual fiscal growth in excess of 8.5 percent, India is clearly one of the world’s fastest-emerging economies. Nowhere is that expansion more evident than in the country’s rapidly evolving capital.”
