Achuthanandan to lay foundation stone of Kannur Cyberpark
January 13th, 2011 - 7:52 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Jan 13 (IANS) Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will lay the foundation stone of the Kannur Eramom Cyberpark Saturday, an official said.Kannur Cyberpark will be developed on 25 acres of land in Eramom village near Taliparamba and has already got the special economic zone (SEZ) notification.
The park is expected to provide direct employment to around 20,000 people and indirect employment to over 80,000.
“The cyberpark will add another golden feather to the Kannur Infrastructure development initiatives. Right after the inauguration of the international airport, cyberpark will act as a catalyst for even more growth in the region,” Cyberpark’s chief executive officer Binu Pazhoor said.
Besides providing infrastructure for infotech (IT) and infotech enabled services (ITES) firms, the project is expected to attract investors for residential, commercial, educational and healthcare projects.
“Lower cost of living, low real estate costs and the availability of skilled resources in the region will make Kannur a very attractive tier-3 destination for IT/ITES based investment. Kannur is expected to witness huge infrastructure development in the coming decade,” added Pazhoor.
The present Left Front government has been developing new IT destinations away from the popular destinations at Technopark near here and at Kochi. In the past three years, it has worked on developing eight IT parks in smaller towns across the state.
