Abu Dhabi to host first World Ports and Trade Summit
July 27th, 2010 - 1:23 am ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, July 26 (IANS/WAM) The Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) Monday announced plans to host the inaugural World Ports and Trade Summit in 2011 to discuss issues facing the ports and shipping industries.
The Abu Dhabi Terminals, the Arab Sea Ports Federation and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority will help the ADPC in organising the event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre March 28-30.
Economists, ports authorities, terminal operators, shipping companies, global cargo owners and investors will attend the summit to discuss the issues facing the industry.
Tony Douglas, CEO of ADPC, said: “The World Ports and Trade Summit will deliver a vital exchange of knowledge as the ports and shipping industries look to evolve development strategies in line with economic management and recovery.”
“ADPC is proud to be a key partner of this new event in the United Arab Emirates. As ADPC continues to make the Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ) a reality, the company is now taking centre stage in the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy,” he added.
