Abu Dhabi posts $37 bn in non-oil foreign trade
March 6th, 2012 - 12:47 am ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, March 5 (IANS/WAM) The emirate of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade stood at 139.4 billion dirhams (about $37 billion) in 2011, up by 27.7 percent, compared with the previous year.
In 2010, the figure was 109.2 billion dirhams, according to a report by the Directorate of Customs.
Non-oil Abu Dhabi exports last year touched 11.5 billion dirhams, down by one percent, compared to 11.6 billion dirhams in 2010.
The volume of imports surged to 116.4 billion dirhams in 2011 compared to 86.6 billion dirhams in 2010, up by 34.4 percent.
Saeed Ahmed Al Mohairi, director general of the Directorate of Customs, said the growth of non-oil trade in 2011 “is an evidence of sound government economic policy”.
