Abu Dhabi hosts workshop to promote sustainable development
April 6th, 2010 - 4:55 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, April 6 (IANS/WAM) The municipality of Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar” will work jointly to promote sustainable development, general manager of Abu Dhabi city municipality Khalifa Mohammad Al Mazroui said.
“Strengthening strategic partnerships plays a pivotal role in supporting the values of sustainable development towards safeguarding the community’s future,” said Mazroui.
He made these comments Monday when he opened the introductory session of the joint workshop hosted by the Abu Dhabi city municipality in cooperation with Masdar.
He reviewed the possible areas for cooperation and highlighted the need for introducing the employees of the municipality to the initiative of Masdar, which embodies Abu Dhabi’s vision and commitment to investing in future energy and providing sustainable environment.
“The municipality of Abu Dhabi city is formulating its policies and strategic plans to bring them in line with the strategic approach of the government of Abu Dhabi and its 2030 Plan, which focuses on conserving the environmental resources and management of sustainable environment. The municipality of Abu Dhabi City assigns due attention to the importance of promoting the cultural and environmental practices, and is directly concerned with the environmental sustainability through adopting energy cutting and waste recycling programmes,” said Al Mazroui.
Sultan Ahmed Al Jabir, chief executive officer of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, also participated in the workshop.
