62 MoUs worth Rs.880 billion signed at two-day Investors meetJuly 30th, 2008 - 10:12 pm ICT by IANS
Gwalior, July 30 (IANS) Sixty-two deals worth Rs.88,000 crore (Rs.880 billion) were signed in the two-day investors’ meet that concluded here Wednesday, officials said. On the first day Tuesday, 13 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs.321.14 billion were signed. The following day Wednesday, 49 MoUs were signed entailing an investment of Rs.558.77 billion.
Of these, 29 MoUs were for the industrial sector accounting for an investment of RS.424.65 billion, while six were in the energy sector envisaging an investment of Rs.403.4 billion.
Others related to sectors such as food processing, information technology and higher education.
In his address at the concluding session of the meet, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said this showed that Madhya Pradesh was no longer a backward state.
“The state has woken up to a new dawn,” he added.
Chouhan said his government would ensure the MoUs are implemented fully, and he would review the progress every three months.
Around 100 investors attended the meet.
